As part of the Hydrogen Week (Wasserstoffwoche) in Saarbrücken, the Green SKHy – A Transnational Initiative for Hydrogen Skills project participated in the 4th meeting of the Economic and Social Committee of the Greater Region, Working Group 2 – Labour Market, dedicated to the development of the hydrogen economy.

The event was opened by Thomas Otto, Chair of Working Group 2, followed by keynote speeches from Christoph Roth, Head of the Representation of Saarland to the European Union, and Dr. Bettina Hübschen, Managing Director of the Saarländische Wasserstoffagentur.

The programme featured a series of projects supporting the hydrogen transition across the Greater Region. Green SKHy presented its activities aimed at developing the skills and competencies required for the emerging hydrogen economy, while also introducing the AFPA Incubators for Hydrogen Skills initiative. The PACT-H2 project showcased its efforts to strengthen cross-border cooperation, increase public awareness, and promote the acceptance of hydrogen technologies. Meanwhile, GreenSteelSkills demonstrated how artificial intelligence is being used to develop innovative training solutions that support the green transformation of the steel industry.

Participants also had the opportunity to visit the Kolping Bildung Deutschland gGmbH Hydrogen Training Trailer, which highlighted the importance of practical, hands-on learning environments in preparing the future hydrogen workforce.

The meeting provided an excellent platform for exchanging knowledge, strengthening cooperation between stakeholders, and highlighting the crucial role of skills development in supporting the successful deployment of hydrogen technologies across the Greater Region.

Green SKHy would like to thank Alexa Himbert and the organisers for hosting this valuable event and for fostering dialogue among stakeholders committed to advancing the hydrogen transition.
