Between the end of October and the beginning of December 2025, a total of 29 secondary school classes from the canton of Fribourg (Switzerland) had the opportunity to take an in-depth look at the basics of hydrogen technology. The training courses focused on both the production of green hydrogen and its potential applications in mobility – two topics that are becoming increasingly important in the context of the energy transition.

Around 600 pupils took part in these practical learning units. Using special hydrogen learning kits, they were able to experiment for themselves, test models and gain a direct understanding of how electrolysis and fuel cells work. They were accompanied by experienced trainers from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland and the École des métiers de Fribourg, who not only imparted specialist knowledge to the young people, but also facilitated their access to future-oriented technologies.

The initiative shows how early and application-oriented teaching of skills can help to get young people excited about sustainable energy issues and strengthen the next generation in the field of hydrogen technologies in the long term.
